How many Jewish students are there at the University of Oregon?

While there is no way to know the exact number, most estimates speculate that there are between 1100 and 1300 Jewish students at the University of Oregon.

Are there Shabbat Services and Dinners every Friday night during the school year?

Of course!  Every Friday night there are appetizers and mingling, services, then a free delicious dinner served!

What Shabbat Service options are there?

There is a more conservative service and then a more pluralistic service with a guitar.  Both services are always student led!

Can I come visit Oregon Hillel?

Absolutely!  We would love to have you come visit!  You are welcome to drop by anytime and feel free to contact us to set up a tour!

Are there any Jewish Fraternities or Sororities on campus?

Yes there are.  There is Alpha Epsilon Pi, the international Jewish Fraternity, and Sigma Mu Omega, a local Jewish sorority. Check them out at Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Mu Omega!

Does Hillel have any programs to help first year students get adjusted to University Life?

First year students are encouraged to participate in our program, "First Year Students of Hillel", which is also known as FYSH!  First year students get together once a week for a delcious meal provided by Oregon Hillel!  FYSH students are also introduced to different aspects of Hillel programming, from community service projects to social events!  To learn more visit our programs page!

Does Hillel receive any funding from the Unviersity of Oregon?

Nope!  Oregon Hillel relies heavily on the generous donations from parents, university alumni, and members of the Eugene and Portland communities!  Please visit our support page to learn more about how you can support Oregon Hillel!
