Programs

Below is more information about our programming! We want to hear from you! Do you have an idea for an event or activity that you didn’t see here? Come to talk with us and let’s make it happen. Help us plan our calendar with the events that you want to attend. Our student board meetings are open to all and the staff doors are always open. Hillel is here for you. Come and participate: Help us to make it your Hillel!
FYSH
First Year Students of Hillel (FYSH) is our exclusive programming for First Year students. Come have fun with students who are also new at the U of O! A free complimentary dinner is served every time. Events include a scavenger hunt, a trip to target to get anything you forgot to bring, movies, and bowling. It’s a perfect way to meet new people and have fun at the same time!
Community Service
From raising money for Food Banks by baking challah to participating on Oregon Hillel’s Dance Marathon or Relay For Life teams, there is a way for everyone to join us in giving back to the community. Did we mention that it’s also super fun? Don’t forget to keep an eye out for Hillel’s Alternative Spring Break trip in the Spring. It’s an experience you will never forget!"
Jewish Learning
Jewish-themed movies, discussions of Jewish values, and Torah study are just some of the ways that Hillel offers students to explore their Jewish identities. What’s more, the programs are almost entirely student-run and usually accompanied by food. We also have plenty of information about jobs, internships, and other opportunities within the Jewish world for college students!
Social Events
Hillel is the perfect place to hang out with friends! Some events just this past year included Duck’s football tailgates, a snowboarding/ski trip, a Channukah party, Jews with Brews, $1.50 movie excursions, and Oregon coast trips. Did we mention that we threw a Bar Mitzvah Party for over 100 students? What will we do this year? You better come and find out!
Shabbat
Every Friday night we provide appetizers, services, and a delicious Kosher Shabbat dinner! There is a more conservative service and a more pluralistic service with a guitar. Both services are always student led and don’t forget our special themed Shabbats which include Israel Shabbat and social justice issues Shabbat. Good food and great friends; It’s the perfect way to start your weekend!
Israel
Want to visit or learn more about Israel? Well then come to Hillel! We sponsor a birthright trip every year and would love to help you find different programs to visit the Jewish State. We also host a series of speakers and other Israel-related activities each year. With programs such as Israel 101 and Israeli movies, there’s always a chance to learn more about Israel’s culture and history!
